The Town That Saved Queensland

Gympie is a regional hub with a strong commercial focus on agriculture, particularly dairy, beef, and horticulture. Being close to the Sunshine Coast, the town has diversified into retail, tourism, and light industry. Gympie is famous for its gold mining past. It earned the nickname "The Town That Saved Queensland" after James Nash discovered gold in the area in 1867.
