Radio stations 2VM and 98.3 NOW FM broadcast from Moree. A popular early segment of the 2MO daily breakfast show was the Smilers Club session that it was still going strong in 1962. In 1995, 2VM was acquired from D Robertson, by Broadcast Operations.

Moree on the banks of the Mehi River is a major agricultural centre, noted for its cotton-growing industry. The town's name is said to come from an Aboriginal word for "rising sun," "long spring," or "water hole". Moree is noted for artesian hot spring baths rumoured to have healing qualities, which attracts many tourists including Grey Nomads.
