2MG Mudgee commenced transmission on July 2nd 1938 on the AM dial. In November 1987, 2MG was sold by Grant Broadcasting to Broadcast Operations.

Mudgee is the largest town in the Mid-Western Regional Council local government area. Grapes were first grown in the area from 1858, but it was the plantings by large wineries around 1974 that gave rise to Mudgee's internationally recognised viticultural heritage. Mudgee is also known for its rich and diverse food scene.
