2SM began broadcasting in 1931. It gained prominence in the 1960s with its top-40 format, catering to a youth audience. When 2SM was purchased by Broadcast Operations in 2000, it came with the property at 8 Jones Bay Road, Pyrmont, which was given a custom-built fit-out studio, glass walls, golden microphone, Tasmanian oak ceilings and more. Today, 2SM is a trusted friend to listeners, presenting entertaining and thought-provoking programs, ranging from talkback to sports.
